G. Chad Perry III '51

Serving his clients and community with skill and dedication, G. Chad Perry has embodied the spirit of leadership in his practice and in his community.  
After graduating from the College in 1951, Perry served as a first lieutenant in the United States Air Force JAG program from 1951-1953 and continued in the Air Force Reserves for 25 years. Returning to his hometown of Paintsville, Kentucky, Perry began a legal practice lasting over 50 years.  He has served as City Attorney twice during that time and was elected to City Council.  As a partner with Perry, Preston, and Miller, he practices in the area of workers compensation, medical malpractice, and general litigation.

He has served as general counsel for the Big Sandy Area Development Authority, as a trustee of Eastern Kentucky and regional educational institutions and banks.  At the College of Law, Perry has been a Lafferty Society member and a long-time member of the Visiting Committee.  He has been a University of Kentucky Fellow for over 25 years.

To eliminate the shortage of primary care physicians in rural Eastern Kentucky, Perry and his wife Judy led the founding of the Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in 1993.  He has served as a board member for the College and received an honorary doctorate in 2001.In recognition of these and many other accomplishments, Perry was named “Outstanding Private Citizen” by the Eastern Kentucky Leadership Conference in 1999.
