Trail Advocacy Board

The Trial Advocacy Board (TAB) is a highly selective, student-led organization dedicated to developing effective, practical trial advocacy skills. TAB members compete in state, regional, and national competitions against other law students in mock trials. TAB teams consistently place among the best teams in the nation.

2003

National Institute of Trial Advocacy ranks the UK Trial Program as one of the nation's top 16 Trial Programs in the nation. TAB goes to the Tournament of Champios for the top 16 trial teams and places 5th in the nation. TAB teams finished first and second at the Sixth Circuit Regional portion of the National Trial Competition.

TAB member also win the best closing and best advocate awards at the Sixth Circuit Regional portion of the National Trial Competition.

TAB member wins the best advocate award at the Kentucky Mock Trial Tournament.

2002

National Institute of Trial Advocacy ranks the UK Trial Program as one of the top 16 Trial Programs in the nation. TAB teams finished first and third at the Sixth Circuit Regional portion of the National Trial Competition. TAB team Finished 12th at the Tournament of Champions (an invitational tournament for the top 16 teams in the nation).

TAB teams finished first and second at the Kentucky Mock Trial Tournament.

TAB member won the best advocate award at the Kentucky Mock Trial Tournament.

2001

TAB team finished first at the Sixth Circuit Regional portion of the American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA) Trial Competition.

TAB teams finished first at the Kentucky Mock Trial Tournament.

2000

TAB teams placed first and second at Kentucky Mock Trial Tournament.

TAB member won the best advocate award at the Kentucky Mock Trial Tournament.

1999

TAB teams finished first at the Sixth Circuit Regional portion of the National Trial Competition.

TAB finished as one of the top 24 teams in the nation at the National Trial Competition.

1998

TAB teams finished first at the Sixth Circuit Regional portion of the National Trial Competition.

TAB finished as one of the top 20 teams in the nation at the National Trial Competition.

2004 TRIAL COMPETITIONS

American College of Trial Layers National Trial Competition

Date: February 2004

Eligibility Criteria: TAB Member

Comments: One of the Big Three Trial Tournaments. This year, the University of Kentucky College of Law will host the regional tournament.

Credit Hours: 2

American Trial Layers Association (ATLA) Trial Competition

Date: March 2004

Eligibility Criteria: TAB Member

Comments: One of the Big Three Trial Tournaments. The ATLA case problem is usually a civil personal injury case.
