Richard Underwood is the Spears-Gilbert Professor of Law at the University of Kentucky College of Law. Professor Underwood teaches a variety of courses including Legal Ethics, Legal Medicine, Health and Bioethics, Evidence, Scientific Evidence and Forensics, Trial Advocacy, and Insurance Law. He is a nationally recognized authority on Legal Ethics. He served for 14 years as the Chairman of the Kentucky Bar Association's Ethics Committee and chaired Kentucky's Model Rules Committee. He has authored, co-authored, or edited four books, and he has written 20 lead articles in law reviews. Professor Underwood has presented papers at the Second World Conference on New Trends in Criminal Investigation and Evidence in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the Worldwide Advocacy Conference at the Inns of Court School of Law in London, England, and the Medical Institute for Law Faculty at the Cleveland Clinic. He has also written over thirty law review articles.
