Welcome Home... The New Law Quad
In the Fall of 2012, the UK College of Law will move to its new home, a spacious group of six contiguous buildings set around three courtyards. The new Law Quad will mark a great leap forward for the College and ensure that the traditions of our first 100 years last through our next century.
Located on Scott Street near the intersection of Limestone, the new Law Quad will surround our students and faculty with architecture that inspires.
For the first time in our history, we will have a facility worthy of our students, faculty, alumni and friends. We will at long last have classrooms designed to foster discussion, with sufficient offices for our professors and ample space for student activities. The library will provide study space for every student and shelving for our entire collection.
Whether gathered in a state-of-the-art classroom; along a sun-drenched hallway; under a clear-blue sky in an inviting courtyard or in a spacious two-story lounge, our students and faculty will have endless opportunities to learn and exchange ideas.
Welcome to your new law school home.
About The New Law Quad
Designed by the prestigious New York architectural firm, Robert A.M. Stern (http://www.ramsa.com), the new Law Quad will provide ample space while qualifying for LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design) Silver status. It doubles the size of our current facility with no increase in the size of our student body. It reflects traditional architecture and themes found on the University of Kentucky’s campus while utilizing the best space designs from the nation’s top law schools. It truly provides us with a preeminent facility for generations to come.
Projected at $100 million, the University plans to seek public funding in January 2010. The College of Law is seeking $15 million from private gifts.
