Tuition and Residency
Tuition, Fees and Expenses
Tuition is set by the College of Law and the University
of Kentucky. Student fees are set by UK
and may not be available until the summer
before enrollment. Projected expenses for
College of Law resident and nonresident students are set
by UK's Student Financial Aid office. Tuition,
fees and expenses for the 2007-08 academic
year are shown at right.
Residency
The procedures and guidelines for determining Kentucky residency for tuition purposes are set by Kentucky's Council on Post-secondary Education pursuant to KRS 164.020(8). If you have lived in Kentucky for at least a year prior to applying to law school, you are automatically a resident for tuition purposes unless you were attending undergraduate school in Kentucky during that time and were living in another state prior to college. If you apply for residency as a UK Law student or candidate for admission, the facts of your situation will be considered on a case-by-case basis. If you are denied residency by the University Registrar, then you may appeal your case to a University committee made up of students, faculty and administrators. If you enter UK Law as a nonresident for tuition purposes, you may petition the University Registrar for a change in residency status by a certain date at the beginning of each semester. A complete statement of the residency policy is available at www.uky.edu/Registrar/.
