Tuska Studio, a showcase for the art of John Tuska, provided an atmosphere of creative inspiration on April 13, 2007, as Central Kentucky Radio Eye held a reception to announce the beginning of its moving campaign. CKRE, a reading service for those who are visually impaired or physically disabled, is preparing to move from its current broadcasting home on UK's campus to a new studio, which will be part of the new Northside branch of the Lexington Public Library to be constructed on Russell Cave Road.
CKRE listeners, volunteers, and local dignitaries joined members of the board of directors to mark this exciting move forward and to rev up for the impending funding challenges brought on by the move. In its continuing effort to provide quality broadcasting to its listeners, CKRE is faced with the task of raising funds for new equipment. Reception attendees had the opportunity to gain inspiration, not only from the various media of Tuska's art, but also from the design plans for the station's new facility. In addition to the reception, CKRE hosted several local stars reading the Lexington Herald-Leader during Celebrity Readers Week, April 16th-20th, to call attention to its upcoming move.
