Volunteer Opportunities |
ABOUT CKRE: Located in Lexington, CKRE is a radio reading service broadcasting 24/7 for blind and disabled Central Kentuckians who tune into our broadcast on special radios provided free of charge by CKRE. The service broadcasts the reading of newspapers, magazines and other literature with the help of volunteer readers who come to the CKRE studios each day.
CKRE holds monthly volunteer orientations from 10:00 a.m. until noon on the last Tuesday of the month. CKRE is currently recruiting for volunteer readers, control board operators, and office help. Persons interested in learning more about volunteer opportunities with CKRE may call 422-6390 to request a volunteer application form and sign up to attend orientation.
Control board operators are needed for on-air soundboard operation for our broadcasting of the reading of newspapers, magazines, and other printed information for blind and print-disabled individuals who tune into the service on special radios.
This is a great volunteer opportunity to help us provide a service which we otherwise could not. It's also a great way to learn a new skill and explore new opportunities.
No technical or broadcast experience is necessary. If you can operate a tape deck, you can do this. Training and supervision will be provided by friendly studio staff.
Volunteers are currently needed mornings for one to two hour shifts, Monday through Friday, with a minimum of one hour a week.
Please call Amy at (859) 422-6390 for more information.
