Hand Bookbinding - 24 April 1993

Hand bookbinding is one of the basic crafts of the book arts. An ancient skill, its methods are continued today by artists trained in the traditions of constructing and ornamenting books. Fine binding implies the use of leathers and gold tooling rather than of cloth or paper covers and labels. It is a demanding but rewarding activity that produces books that are both handsome and durable.
