You must have school approval to get credit. All internships are unpaid. All internships are for one semester, renewable upon the agreement of Radio Eye,
the student, and the host school.
Assistant Program Coordinator
Job Description:
Daily Assignments
- Schedule and manage volunteer readers/talent, as needed
- Operate broadcast console (control board)
- Assist with automation programming
- Read on-air, as needed
- Prepare material for on-air programming
- Assist readers and control board operators with troubleshooting
- Write/Read announcements on-air
- Assist with writing/editing electronic newsletters
- Assist with creation and broadcast of bi-annual newsletter
Projects/Goals
- Create a spreadsheet of subscriptions, with expiration and renewal dates
- Research, coordinate, and produce two episodes of a one hour interview-based program, and other programs, as needed
Qualifications
- Good phone etiquette
- Computer skills: type 45 wpm or more; proficient at Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Email, and Internet searches
- Good communications skills and ability to work with others
- Ability to work with little supervision following brief orientation and training
- Flexibility to work in a variety of situations
- Willingness to read publications on-air when required
- Interest in writing, editing and voicing radio copy
- Commitment to attendance and punctuality
- Junior or Senior status
Assistant Development Coordinator
Job Description:
Daily Assignments
- Schedule and manage volunteer readers/talent, as needed
- Operate broadcast console (control board)
- Assist in listener development by (1) receiving and processing listener applications, (2) receiving and initiating listener contact,
(3) updating the listener survey, and (4) coordinating the delivery or listener radios and listener visits
- Assist in outreach and donor development through the following:
- Help develop the electronic mailing list, to reach potential donors and listeners
- Research new fundraising ideas
- Assist in coordination of bulk mail fundraising appeals
- Help develop and coordinate event planning
- Help create new donor development protocols
- Help generate publicity and write press releases
- Research donor software
Projects/Goals (Choose one of the following)
- Research underwriting, with the goal towards creating a protocol for future fundraising
- Research 2 grants and help create a protocol for researching grants
Qualifications
- Good phone etiquette
- Computer skills: type 45 wpm or more; proficient at Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, email, and internet searches
- Excellent creative and writing skills--preferably with experience in journalism, public relations or business correspondence
- Good communications skills with an emphasis on persuasive speaking and writing, sales, or fund-raising
- Ability to organize written and spoken presentations, speak in public and on-air
- Junior or Senior status
