POLICY NO. 1

REVISION - January 2001

REGISTRATION OF PATRONS

POLICY

Patrons can be registered at any service unit regardless of patron group. University of Kentucky departments, research groups or programs outside the Library system are not allowed to have group registration. Members of such bodies must be registered individually. Exceptions for outside agencies (e.g., law firms, corporations) are made on a case by case basis by the appropriate library director.

PROCEDURE

(a) Although a patron can be registered at any location, libraries should make an effort to register their own primary clientele.

(b) A new patron record should not be added without the benefit of a written application. For this reason, blank registration forms for all patron categories should be kept at all circulation desks.
