The Shaver Library contains a research collection to support advanced graduate and doctoral level programs in all the traditional engineering disciplines. The development of the library's collection of more than 120,000 volumes and over 650 journal subscriptions has been in direct response to the teaching and research needs of the College of Engineering and its seven academic departments, including computer science, chemical and materials engineering, civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, mining engineering, and engineering mechanics. In addition, the library supports research efforts in such areas as robotics, manufacturing, energy conversion, coal technology, nuclear engineering, transportation, biomedical engineering, and the environmental sciences.
