Biographical Information

Tracy Campbell

Tracy Campbell, Professor of History and Co-Director of the Wendell H. Ford Public Policy Research Center.

Dr. Campbell specializes in U.S. social and political history. He is the author of three books: The Politics of Despair: Power and Resistance in the Tobacco Wars (Univ. Press of Ky., 1993); Short of the Glory: The Fall and Redemption of Edward F. Prichard, Jr. (Univ. Press of Ky., 1998), which was nominated for a Pulitzer Prize; and Deliver the Vote: A History of American Election Fraud, an American Political Tradition--1742-2004, (Carroll and Graf, 2005). He has also written a textbook for elementary school students in Kentucky history. In addition to survey courses and undergraduate courses in recent U.S. history, he teaches graduate courses in 20th century U.S. readings and research methods. He is currently writing a biography of the St. Louis Gateway Arch.


 

Terry Birdwhistell

Terry Birdwhistell, Associate Dean of Special Collections and Digital Programs and Co- Director of the Wendell H. Ford Public Policy Research Center.

 Dr. Birdwhistell was Director of what is now the Louie B. Nunn Center for Oral History from 1974 to 2005. He also served for sixteen years as University Archivist. He is Co-General Editor of "Kentucky Remembered," an oral history series published by the University Press of Kentucky. Dr. Birdwhistell is a past president of the national Oral History Association.
