Computer Lab

Located within the Agricultural Information Center (AIC) is a student computer lab that currently houses 32 computers. These computers are available to any faculty, student, or staff with a UK ID and password and feature all the Microsoft Office 2007 Software, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access. There are also seven computers, used primarily for Internet access, located near the front of the AIC that do not require a UK ID; however, they do not have any of the Microsoft Office Software. These computers are available for use anytime the AIC is open.

Training Room

Located within the AIC is a small classroom with 18 desktop computers and room for laptops. This classroom is used for training purposes at the request of UK faculty or staff, primarily for teaching specialized software. Librarians also use it for information literacy sessions, including database skills instruction. This training room may be used at any time the AIC is open. The Training Room is currently being upgraded with desktop computers running on Windows XP with MS Office 2007 software. Please check back later for more updates on technical specifications, or contact Amelie Charron.

Portable Smart Classroom Units

These units are available as teaching aids to College of Agriculture faculty and staff,
16 for semester-long use and two for on-demand circulation.

• Microsoft Basic Mouse, provides an alternative to the trackpoint technology on the Thinkpad notebooks
• Iomega External Zip Drive, Comes with a courtesy 250 MB zip disk

  • Epson Powerlite Multimedia Projector
  • Toshiba TLP471A 3LCD Data Projector

    The Toshiba has an ELMO, which is useful for classes that need to project 3-D objects onto the screen, such as insects or plant material, transparencies, illustrations from a book, etc.

• ATR 35S Lavalier Microphone; clips to your lapel, collar, or pocket.
• Advent 900 mhz Wireless Speakers
• Remote Pointer (mouse)
• USB Hub - connects to IBM Thinkpad to extend the number of connections. Limited to equipment that is USB-compatible.
• Accessories

  Miscellaneous items that may be required to operate some of the equipment listed above, including Ethernet cables, USB cable, surge suppressor and extension cord.
