Welcome to the William T. Young Library. The library is named for prominent Lexington businessman and horse-breeder, William T. Young. Mr. Young was a mechanical engineering graduate of the University of Kentucky. William T. Young Library houses the University's collection of social sciences, humanities, and selected life sciences materials in one campus location. Designed by the architectural firm of Kallman McKinnell & Wood, the building measures 365,000 square feet, seats 4,000 people, and houses 1.2 million volumes.
The university also has several other libraries, which together hold approximately 1.5 million volumes.
