About the UK Libraries' Website

The University of Kentucky Libraries unveiled its current website in December 2005. We welcome feedback on the design so we can continue to improve usability of the site.

Advantages of the current design include:

  1. Faster updating. The website is database-driven. If an online resource's web address changes, we will be able to make a single change to the database and have that update available immediately on all pages in the site. We hope the result will be fewer dead or incorrect links and more consistently accurate information throughout the site.
  2. Consistency. We have implemented a template system so that all pages within the new site have consistent navigation, consistent language, and a common look and feel. We hope the result will be that users can make an easier transition when moving between sections of the site, e.g., when using different campus library pages.
  3. Accessibility. We continue to work to comply with current web and accessibility standards to insure that the site is usable for everyone. Critical aspects of the site (e.g., navigation) do not rely on javascript or any special software plug-ins. The site employs Cascading Style Sheets (CSS), which should make the pages load faster and print better as well as provide more user control. For example, font size is relative so that you can adjust the size according to your needs. ( Let us know if you need help doing this.)

We will continue to enhance the site, so we welcome input via this feedback form or by email to webadmin@lsv.uky.edu.
