Find Articles
The UK Libraries provide over 300 specialized databases that help you find journal articles and many other resources. To find recommended databases for your subject area, consult the Research Guides by Subject.
Academic Search Premier is an excellent database that has both scholarly and popular articles on a broad range of topics.
To find a journal that contains a specific article cited in the database you are searching, use the
button or phrase (more information) you'll find in many databases; also try the E-Journals Database (search by journal title, not subject) for electronic access. For journals in paper format, search the journal title in InfoKat, the Libraries' online catalog.
If you have a citation
A citation (the title of an article and its designated location [volume, issue and pagination] in a specific journal) requires that you find where the journal is available, so search the E-Journals Database (search by journal title) for electronic access and InfoKat, the Libraries' online catalog, to see if the journal is available in paper. So if your citation is
Null, Christopher, "How to Avoid Facebook & Twitter Disasters," PC World, Vol. 27, Issue 8 (Aug. 2009), pp. 97-103
you would search for PC World in the E-Journals Database and find the volume and issue that contains the article in the service the E-Journals Db. indicates has it;
OR
Search InfoKat to see if PC World is shelved in one of the UK Libraries, then find the volume on the shelf to see your article.
