IV. A. Goals and Desired Outcomes for Collection Development


A. Collection Development

Goal One: To develop a flexible, comprehensive collection development policy for federal government publications.

DESIRED OUTCOMES:

1. Patrons will have access to Federal Depository Library collections developed on the basis of a written collection development policy that reflects the needs of the community. Suggested Assessment Measures

2. Patrons will be able to assess their federal government information needs against the Federal Depository Library's posted policy. Suggested Assessment Measures



Goal Two: To ensure that area citizens have access to federal government publications that are timely, relevant, and format-compatible.


DESIRED OUTCOMES:

1. Patrons will be able to access and use federal government publications that are timely. Suggested Assessment Measures

2. Patrons will be able to access electronic federal government publications compatible with their Federal Depository Library's computer technology. Suggested Assessment Measures

3. Patrons will be able to find federal government publications and other materials related to their research needs. Suggested Assessment Measures



Goal Three: To forge cooperative selection and/or selective housing agreements among neighboring depositories and libraries where feasible.

DESIRED OUTCOMES:

1. Patrons will have access to a larger selection of federal government publications than would be available from one Federal Depository Library. Suggested Assessment Measures

2. Patrons will be satisfied with the availability of federal government publications. Suggested Assessment Measures
