ACCORDING TO ROSALIND
In my world there is a huge to-do list, and I love it. Let’s see
how many I can check off the list throughout the year.

Money, Money, Money
Unlike most college students I do not have a great amount of debt. In May, when I finish my undergraduate career, I will be leaving the university with no debt- no crazy credit card companies calling and the student loan office calling won’t call to set up my first payment. My entire college career was funded through various scholarships. I even had a little money in my pocket for the college life amenities, you know parties, eating out, and who can forget Wal-Mart. Most college students however don’t have this luxury. Once in college, one must know how to control their money. The good old $100 that lasted forever when you were a child seems to disappear as quickly as the O’Charley’s rolls do at a table full of hungry college students. You must be frugal, to an extent, when it comes to your money. Here are a few tips on keeping your money in your pocket and not in someone else’s.
1. Don’t spend money that you don’t have.
Overdrafts will suck up all of your cash. Your bank may charge $25 every
time you spend money that you don’t have. You will constantly be
working yourself out of the negative.
2. Credit cards can be good if you use them correctly.
Credit Cards are great ways to boost your credit score, but if you don’t
have the money to pay them in a timely manner, don’t use them.
3. Networking
Use your social network to save money. Cook at home or in the residence
halls sometime. Have everyone bring a dish and all chip in on the meat.
4. It takes a village!
One thing that I have never been shy about is asking for money. If I need
it, than I need it. Don’t just rely on your parents, seek sponsorship
from aunts, uncles, even cousins, and of course grandparents
5. FREE-99
Many activities on campus are free attend them and take a plate of food
home if there is extra. Also, look around for restaurants giving out coupons
for free items i.e. Chipotle’s free burritos. The KY Kernel is a
great resource for these coupons.
6. When all else fails, GET A JOB!
You are first and foremost a student of this great university; so make
sure that your job does not interfere with your education!!
