Prospective Fellows: Applying for the Gaines Fellowship The Application ProcessIf you are interested in becoming a Gaines Fellow, please fill out and submit the 2010 application [DOC]. The application deadline is Friday, January 14 by 4:00 p.m. After submitting an application and other required materials, about 20 fellows will be selected from the pool of applicants to be interviewed at the Bingham-Davis House (map). The interview committee will include the director, assistant director, a senior fellow, and additional affiliated faculty. The interview can be challenging and confrontational for a poorly prepared applicant, however, it also provides a rare opportunity for the applicant to escape the bureaucratic mechanisms common in most academic competitions and demonstrate her or his personality, enthusiasm, and potential role in the community of Gaines Fellows. When all interviews have been completed, a committee of Gaines Fellows and faculty members will select 11-13 new Fellows. These Fellows will be awarded a Gaines Fellowship based on their applications and interviews. Tips and Hints
