Blue Grass Grotto

The Blue Grass Grotto, a chapter of the National Speleological Society, meets every 2nd Tuesday at 7:30 pm Rm 102 Mining and Mineral Resources Building, University of Kentucky, corner of Rose and Clifton Streets, Lexington. Annual membership is $7.50 for individuals and $10 for families. Benefits of membership are (1) programs at each meeting, (2) occassional led trips, training in safety and techniques. Central Ohio Valley Archaeological Society

"The Central Ohio Valley Archaeological Society (COVAS) promotes, through study and research, an appreciation for and an understanding of the prehistory and history of the Central Ohio Valley. COVAS meets at 7:30 pm on the second Thursday of each month (September-May) in the auditorium of the former Museum of Natural History building at 1720 Gilbert Avenue in Cincinnati. Kentucky Society of Professional Geologists

Annual Fall Field Conference is a one- or two-day fieldtrip somewhere in Kentucky. Field guidebooks for the conference are published by the Kentucky Geological Survey. Kentucky Academy of Sciences

"Membership in the Academy is open to interested persons upon nomination, payment of dues, and election. Application forms for membership may be obtained from the Secretary. The Transactions are sent free to all members in good standing. Annual dues are $25 for Active Members; $15 for Student Members; $35 for Family; $350 for Life Members. Subsctiption rates for nonmembers are: domestic, $45; foreign $50; back issues are $30 per volume. The Transactions are issued semiannually in March and September. Four numbers comprise a volume." Kentucky Association of Science Educators and Skeptics, Inc.

Organized to scientifically examine unusual claims and circumstances. Meetings are held in Lexington and occasionally in Louisville, Kentucky. Annual membership is $15. Kentucky Paleontological Society

Monthly meetings and fieldtrips are open to the public; meetings are held on Friday evenings at 7:30 in Rm 102 of the Mines and Minerals Resources Building (on Rose Street near Columbia St.), University of Kentucky campus, Lexington. Guest speakers present 45-60 minute talks. Monthly fieldtrips are announced at the meetings and in the newsletter and are generally held a week after the meeting (on Saturdays).
