The scorpion, Vaejovis carolinianus (Beauvois), is native to south-central
Kentucky along the Cumberland River. Its sting, equivalent to a wasp's, is
not dangerous to most people. Campers beware; it likes to hide in shoes and
sleeping bags. Thanks to William Zierath for identification of the scorpion.
