Watershed: Eagle Creek Watershed
This is a brief Year-End report on the work being carried out for our KRA-funded project, providing support to the Eagle Creek Watershed Council during 2005-2006.
Date grant activities began: During the summer of 2005.
Accomplishments to date:
- I assisted Tony Powell with some of the first public outreach steps in support of the Eagle Creek/Ten Mile Creek 319(h) grant that will educate the public, provide sewer grants to homeowners, and result in measurable improvements in water quality in Ten Mile Creek, a subsidiary of Eagle Creek.
- We provided information about the project in two Kentucky Waterways Alliance newsletter articles (copies included).
- We sent out four "Eagle Creek Watershed Council E-Updates" to those interested in Eagle Creek and its health (copies included);
- We met three times to plan activities and corresponded frequently via e-mail and telephone;
- I assisted Tony in providing a weekend public informational event on February 25 at The Nature Academy in Owen County (flyer attached, and followup report provided in the most recent E-Update);
- I have compiled a Word document snail mail list of local interested people and leaders, and an e-mail list of interested people and leaders (there is some overlap between the two). Copies included.
Adherence to budget and any requests for its amendment:
We were able to remain within the budget provided.
Target completion date:
We plan to continue this work during 2006-2007, with greater public effort now that the Ten Mile Creek Watershed Plan has been completed and submitted to KY DOW.
