Focus Watershed: Bluegrass Region of the Kentucky River Basin

This project’s goal is to provide educational tools and training to minimize urban stormwater runoff pollution to waterways in the Bluegrass Region of the Kentucky River Basin.  In addition to education of the general public, this project will assist the seven communities in this region that are required to provide stormwater education and involvement as components of their Phase I and Phase II stormwater management permits.

Specifically, Bluegrass PRIDE will purchase an EnviroScape watershed model and film a demonstration of stormwater runoff impacts to water quality.  The resulting video will be distributed to the 230 schools in the Bluegrass PRIDE region, be played on local government cable TV stations and used in various outreach activities.  Additionally, the EnviroScape model will be made available for educational loan, along with PRIDE’s existing stormwater education supplies.
