The first (official) meeting of the Kentucky Voyager Users Group (KVUG) met at the Young Library on the University of Kentucky campus. Executive committee members are Perry Bratcher, Chair; Tyler Goldberg, Chair-Elect; Cathy Reilender, Interim Secretary-Treasurer; Kelly Vickery, UK System Administrator. There were 98 attendees.

There were three presentations in the morning session (ILL/Citation Server, Acquisitions, Access Reporting) and six SIGS (Cataloging, WebVoyage, Reporter, Acquisitions, Sys Admin, Circulation) in the afternoon.

PRESENTATIONS:

Jim Miesse, Director of Customer Service at Endeavor Information Systems, made a presentation on the state of Endeavor and the state of libraries. “Single-user access” and “unified access” are what libraries need to offer in today’s environment and Endeavor has several products to address these needs: ENCompass, LinkFinder, ImageServer and “My OPAC.”

Miko Pattie, Director of the Library at KYVL, reported on the status of KYVL:

1. Midway College will soon become the 14th member to join the UK hub.
2. Enough money has been targeted to keep both hubs’ servers “robust.”
3. Database contracts with EBSCO and OCLC have been extended thru September.
4. Negotiations with other vendors for databases are underway.
5. A pilot project for online interlibrary loan requests via WebZ has been funded.
6. OCLC will no longer support SiteSearch after December 2002.

Business Meeting

1. Cathy Reilender was elected secretary-treasurer to serve until June 2002.
2. After a brief discussion about moving the annual meeting date away from fiscal year-end, the by-laws were approved as amended.
3. Perry asked attendees to make suggestions on dates and locations for future meetings. He also asked for names of those interested in running for a KVUG office.
