LEXINGTON CHILDREN’S MUSEUM

SATURDAY OCTOBER 10, 1998

6:30 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

Discover the world around you. Explore 14,000 square feet of exhibit space featuring over 100 hands-on exhibits engaging to adults as well as children. Enjoy tasty hors d’oeuvres while you visit with old friends and make new ones.

The Museum is located in Victorian Square, accessible by pedway from the Radisson.

The cost is included in the All-Conference registration fee. Purchase of extra tickets costs $10.00 per person.

 

"OLD KENTUCKY NIGHT" at the KENTUCKY HORSE PARK

SUNDAY OCTOBER 11, 1998

6:15 p.m.-10:00 p.m.

Enjoy a casual country evening and experience the Southern warmth and hospitality of one of the finest equine facilities in the world. Life "Down on the Farm" is recreated in an "Old Kentucky Night" at the Horse Park. Take pleasure in a relaxing evening of hayrides, buffet dinner (Kentucky Burgoo, fried chicken, barbecue pork, cole slaw, buttered corn, assorted bread, pecan pie, beverage) and touring the grounds of a beautiful working horse farm set in the "Heart of the Bluegrass."

The Park encompasses 1,000 acres and is laced with over 35 miles of white board fence. Discover 58 million years of equine history at a one-of-a-kind museum. See a 23 minute movie on horses, horses and more horses. The Park has something for everyone, the novice as well as the horse enthusiast.

The cost is included in the All-Conference registration fee. Round trip transportation from the hotel to the Park will be provided. Purchase of extra tickets costs $35.00 per person including children.

SHAKER VILLAGE OF PLEASANT HILL

Enjoy a walking tour of this historic community maintained in the 19th Century tradition. Visit with village artisans and listen to costumed interpreters discuss the Shakers and give information on the graceful architecture. Dine on a luncheon feast of Baked Herb Chicken Breast, Salad, Hot Breads and Three Vegetables, Choice of Beverage and Dessert.

Limited to 48 people.
$40.00 per person (Includes bus, tour, and lunch).

KENTUCKY GUILD OF ARTISTS & CRAFTSMEN FALL FAIR, BEREA

SATURDAY OCTOBER 10, 1998

9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.

This exceptional fair offers the arts and crafts of over 110 regional craftspeople, demonstrations, and entertainment. The fair is held outdoors rain or shine.

Limited to 48 people.
$20.00 per person (Includes bus). Admission to the fair is $4.00 and is paid on site; lunch is on your own and available on site.

WILLIAM T. YOUNG LIBRARY (UNIVERSITY OF KENTUCKY)

SUNDAY OCTOBER 11, 1998

10:30 a.m.-NOON

Opened in April,1998, the approximately 350,000 square-foot building has the capacity for 1.2 million volumes and seats more than 4,000 persons. This facility combines social sciences, humanities and life sciences collections from various locations on campus and includes 1986 and older material from the UK Medical Center Library.

Transportation will be provided at no cost.

KEENELAND RACE TRACK

WEDNESDAY thru SUNDAY

POST TIME 1:10 p.m.

Public transportation to attend thoroughbred racing is available from the Lexington Center (across from the conference hotel). Hourly runs are made from 10:00 A.M. until the last race ends. Cost is $1.00 each way. Directions will be available for those who wish to drive. Admission is $2.50.

SOUTHEASTERN CONFERENCE FOOTBALL

SATURDAY OCTOBER 10, 1998

Game time 7:00 p.m.

The University of Kentucky Wildcats play host to South Carolina at Commonwealth Stadium.
