Keynote Speaker Daniel J. Gahl Administrator Senior Director/Chief Operating Officer Daniel J. Gahl came to the Academic Medical Center setting after spending almost 20 years with the area's first multispecialty group practice, Group Health Associates, as Associate Administrator and Chief Operating Officer. Currently Dan serves as the Administrator of University of Cincinnati Medical Associates and Senior Director/ Chief Operating Officer of Alliance Partners, the joint venture management services company of the Health Alliance of Greater Cincinnati and Alliance Physicians and Surgeons. He is also Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs, University of Cincinnati College of Medicine. Dan
obtained his undergraduate degree from the University of Dayton and his Masters of Arts
degree from the University of Cincinnati. He has been active in numerous professional and
fraternal organizations in various leadership positions. He has held a position as an
Adjunct Instructor in the University of Cincinnati graduate program in Health Care
Administration and Planning, and has lectured in the Xavier University graduate program in
Hospital and Health Care Administration. Dan currently serves as the Chairman of the Group
Practice Council of the University HealthSystems Consortium. Barbara White Professor Barbara White, a Professor at Lexington Community College (LCC), teaches and consults in the fields of quality management, organizational transition, leadership development, strategic planning, team development, and process management. She has been employed by LCC for 17 years, serving as a faculty member, process consultant, program coordinator, and public speaker. She has also served as advisor to the University of Kentucky (UK) Community College CQI Steering Team, UK Library Directors Leadership Team, UK Robotics Center Development Team and UK Hospital Social Worker Professional Unit. Barbara is a certified facilitator with the Covey Leadership Institute, specializing in the presentation of Dr. Covey's Seven Habits of Highly Effective People. In addition, as a certified instructor of UK Robotics Center's Lean Manufacturing Simulation, she has assisted numerous organizations with the many aspects of human and institutional change. Her study with Dr. W. Edwards Deming in 1989 has provided her with a unique insight and ability to communicate the strong connection between ethical leadership and organizational development. Barbara proudly serves as a state quality examiner for the Kentucky Quality Award.
