The Vice President for Academic Outreach and Public Service has responsibility for: promoting "university engagement", providing oversight for the Office of Experiential Education and the Professional Education Preparation Program (PEPP), and seeking opportunities for university partnerships.

The Vice President is responsible for promoting and evaluating the university's efforts to address some of the state's most persistent problems in the areas of education, health, environment, arts and culture, economic well-being, community vitality and civic engagement. This Office serves as the university's liaison to local, state, and national agencies and organizations concerned with academic outreach, service learning and public service.

To partner with the people of Kentucky in finding answers and solutions that will lead to improved health, educational, social, economic, and cultural well-being of the citizens of the Commonwealth. To provide access to relevant educational programs and useful information and receive feedback/input from the stakeholders.

We value opportunities to apply knowledge using the mosaic of talents among faculty, staff, and students representing multidisciplinary units and in partnership with stakeholders to seek answers and solutions to the most pressing problems in the Commonwealth.

We value student learning beyond campus walls, discovering new knowledge and making results of our research useful beyond the academic community, and providing service that will make a difference in the lives of people in Kentucky.

To facilitate the integration of the university's service mission with its research and teaching functions through the scholarship of engagement and student service learning.

We aim to better serve Kentucky by extending the research-based knowledge and problem-solving resources of the entire UNIVERSITY to the people of Kentucky and to engage the university in partnership with communities, local governments, for-profit and non-profit organizations to address high priority needs of people throughout the Commonwealth.
