Goals

  • Form a professional learning community that involves the grade 5-12 science teachers and the Alliance Facilitators in an ongoing study of important conceptual and pedagogical issues that face middle and high school science teachers including inquiry.
  • Work to design and pilot standards based units of study that teachers can utilize in their classroom. The units will be centered around the "Big Ideas" of science defined in the newly released version 4.1 of the Kentucky Core Content and Program of Studies. The learning sequences will include inquiry/project based learning, and effective integration of literacy skills in science classrooms.
