Background & Expertise
Ruth taught middle school and high school mathematics for 29 years. She is a National Instructor for Teachers Teaching with Technology (T3) and an author of classroom activities, professional development materials, and textbooks. Ruth specializes in grades 7-12 mathematics content, instructional technology, and professional development for mathematics teachers. She has worked with several projects in Kentucky including Math MATTERS through OVEC, and the three-year Central Kentucky High School Math-Science Partnership (CKHS-MSP) through CKEC. Ruth has recently completed an eleven-month assignment as trainer and implementation specialist for schools in the TI MathForward™ program in Alice, TX. She has received the Presidential Award for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics, has been recognized as a Tandy Scholar, and was selected as a Christa McAuliffe Fellow. Ruth was one of the twelve teachers selected to serve on the first Teacher Advisory Council of the National Academy of Sciences, is a Past President of the Kentucky Council of Teachers of Mathematics, and was a member of the Board of Directors for the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics.

Stephanie is certified 7-12 Physics and Mathematics with a master's degree in physics and a Rank I in educational leadership. She has 16 years of teaching experience and currently teaches science at Rockcastle County High School in Mount Vernon, KY. Stephanie specializes in working with science teachers and administrators in grades 9-12 and focuses on formative/summative assessments, curriculum and instructional practices.

Susan Mayo

Susan is certified in 7-12 biology with a Master's degree in secondary education with an emphasis in biology. She retired in May 2010 from the Pikeville Independent School District after teaching biology for 27 years. During the last five years of her teaching career, she participated in PIMSER's Science Leadership Support Network. She is currently in her second year as a Regional Teacher Partner with PIMSER. Susan specializes in working with science teachers in the areas of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.

Jennifer is an EKU graduate with an MAED and MS in Mathematics. She has 23 years of high school teaching experience and has also taught College Algebra for EKU at the Manchester Regional Campus since it opened in 1993. In addition to part time teaching duties, she serves as the District Math Coach for Clay County Schools. Jennifer has completed three years of Cognitive Coaching training with the Kentucky Center of Mathematics (2006-2009) and two years of training with PIMSER as an Appalachian Teacher Partner (2009-2011). Her passion is using her own experiences and training to coach math teachers inside and outside of the classroom to improve teacher efficacy, content knowledge, and pedagogy.

Jim taught high school math for 29 years, Governor's Scholars Program for 9 years, and Bluegrass Community and Technical College part-time for three years. He is currently in his second year as a Kentucky Center for Mathematics math coach and has worked as a math coach/math consultant half-time for the last three years. He earned the Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics Teaching. Jim specializes in working with math teachers in grades 9-12.

Terry taught in Rockcastle County for 29 years. During the last five years teaching, she worked with the Appalachian Rural Systemic Initiative (ARSI) as a teacher partner, then as a Regional Teacher Partner with PIMSER. As a teacher partner, she taught teachers at Rockcastle County Middle School. As a Regional Teacher Partner the last three years, she provided ongoing, imbedded professional development for math and special needs teachers at Rockcastle County Middle School and Huntsville Middle School in Huntsville, Tennessee. She has worked intensively with schools in curriculum, instructional practices, assessment, and technology. Terry has assisted teachers in the implementation of Connected Math, a NSF funded middle school math program, and Math Trailblazers, a NSF funded elementary school program.

Becky is certified in 7-12 biology with a master's degree in science and a Rank 1 in administration. She has 19 years of teaching experience and has provided professional development for 10 years. Currently she is the assistant principal of Rockcastle County High School. She is a member of NSTA and ASCD. Becky specializes in working with science teachers and administrators in grades 6-12.

Susan Stringer

Susan is certified 9-12 in mathematics and psychology with a master's degree in mathematics education and a rank 1 in mathematics education with a math consultant certification. She has 21 years of teaching experience, both at the high school level and the college level. Susan currently teaches at Casey County High School in Liberty, KY where she is the mathematics department chair, dual-credit coordinator, and part-time math curriculum coach. Susan is also an adjunct professor of mathematics at Campbellsville University.

Peggy Welch

Peggy currently teaches science part time at Jessamine Career & Technology Center after dedicating her life to teaching science and technology to both students and teachers. During her career of thirty five years, she has been instrumental in designing curriculum and implementing several courses including AP biology, agri biotechnology, PLTW Human Body Systems, and dual credit anatomy & physiology. She has instructed numerous workshops for CKHS-MSP, ARSI, AMSP, TUT, Tech Prep and Texas Instruments. Peggy specializes in helping teachers integrate technology into their curriculum, instruction and assessment.
