Kim received a bachelor's degree in education from West Liberty State College. She became an elementary/middle school science teacher in Maryland. While teaching she pursued a masters degree in science education from Loyola College and worked for a year as a teacher in residence at the Space Telescope Science Institute (STScI), training and working with astronomers from all over the world on outreach activities and strategies for working with K-12 teachers and students. Kim has worked at the University of Kentucky for nine years as a Resource Collaborative Director with the Appalachian Rural Systemic Initiative (ARSI). For the past three years she has continued to train and support the work of the Regional Teacher Partners and has partnered with them to design the outreach activities that fall under PIMSER and are available to districts across the Commonwealth. Debbie was a high school science teacher for 24 years before beginning her work as a regional program coordinator for the Appalachian Math Science Partnership (AMSP) in 2005. After the original AMSP grant expired October 1, 2007, her position as a regional program coordinator was reduced to a half-time position. It was then that she officially began working with PIMSER in a half-time capacity, assisting Kim Zeidler with the overall coordination of the K-12 Outreach Division of PIMSER. She works directly with the Math Leadership Support Networks and the Network for New Math and Science Teachers. As her work with AMSP fades this year her role with PIMSER will grow to be a full-time commitment. She looks forward to contributing to the work done by PIMSER in facilitating the growth of math and science education in Kentucky.

Sarah joined the PIMSER team in November 2007 and assists the Conference Coordinator with event logistics and preparation. She is a 2004 graduate of UK and has been employed at the university for three years. In her previous positions at the Alumni Association and James W. Stuckert Career Center she was responsible for event planning and logistics, thus making her a good fit with the PIMSER team. She looks forward to using her skills in planning of future PIMSER events.
