Mehmet Saracoglu

PAD 2007 winners

Mehmet Saracoglu came to UK in the fall of 2004 intent on finding common ground between his beloved religion of Islam and Christianity. One nominator stated that he was personally indebted to him for his explanation of Islam and for convincing him of the commonality in Islam and Christianity regarding love of others, brotherhood, and the compatibility of these two great religions. Due to his exceptional English, he was selected as an interpreter for the Interfaith and Cultural Dialogue Tour to Turkey in the summer of 2006. After that tour, he returned to UK and established a new student organization, the Interfaith Dialogue Organization, with the purposes of promoting dialogue, tolerance, understanding, respect and love towards our fellow human beings by sharing cultures and spiritual traditions of the world’s religions, gathering people from different cultures, faiths and races at UK, and finding and celebrating the common ties which bind us as brothers and sisters from around the world at UK. He has served as president of the Turkish Student Association, where he has opened doors to building understanding between American students and international students.
