Advise the President on issues, policies and practices that affect women at the University of Kentucky
Report regularly to the President and the University community on the status of women at UK
Offer recommendations to redress all forms of gender-related inequities
Propose initiatives to ensure that the University of Kentucky fully engages the talents of its women employees and fairly meets the needs of its women students
Administer selected programs that benefit women at UK

(1) Although the focus is rightly on women’s issues, many of those issues might more accurately be described as people’s issues, as they concern equal opportunities and treatment for all members of the community. (2) I think the great hope of our society is that we will be able to use more fully the talents of 100 percent of our population rather than just 50 percent. (3) When I get to heaven, I want Her to see this on my resumé.”

HOW TO GET INVOLVED!

The PCW is active in a wide variety of efforts that encourage participation by non-PCW members to draw from the wide expertise available on campus.
The PCW’s work takes place through a number of committees all of which seek participation by non-PCW members.

The PCW current committees are:

Scientific and Professional Advancement of Women in Higher Education, Recruitment and Retention, Campus Climate and Salary Issues.

Everyone interested in gender equity and, therefore, in enhancing the contribution of, and opportunities for, women and men at UK are welcome to participate in the work of the PCW. Please contact us if you are interested in participating!
