Oct. 11, 1999 – (Lexington, Ky.) – Delta Delta Delta sorority at the University of Kentucky will host its annual "Run for the Kids" Oct. 24.

The 5K event is open to the public and raises funds for children's cancer research, the sorority's national philanthropy, through donations and registration fees. Last year, the run raised over $6,000 that was donated to children's cancer research at the UK Children's Hospital.

The run will begin at 1:30 p.m. Oct. 24 in the UK Commonwealth Stadium green lot. Door prizes will be given out throughout the run. Runners can register the day of the event for a fee of $12 or pre-register for $10 by calling 323-7991 or visiting the Delta Delta Delta house at 468 Rose St.

Businesses that donate between $100 and $400 will be named on a commemorative T-shirt designed by a patient at the UK Children's Hospital for the event. For donations over $400, the company logo will be added to the shirt. To make donations of food or items, call 323-7991 or visit the Delta Delta Delta house.
