Oct.
21, 1999 (Lexington, Ky.) A special
training program at the University of Kentucky will provide in-depth training for school
financial managers from Oct. 31 through Nov. 5 at the Ramada Inn & Conference Center
at 2143 N. Broadway, Lexington. The School Financial Managers Institute will scrutinize a
broad range of issues faced by school district financial officers. The institute,
developed by the UK Gatton College of Business and Economics, the College of Education and
an advisory board of educational professionals, will focus on these issues, among others:
- Grants management and governing regulations;
- Communications skills essential to operating an efficient and effective finance office;
- Cash management and structuring short-term investments;
- State laws pertaining to school financial management;
- Conflict resolution within financial offices and school districts;
- Legal timelines and ensuring timely filings of information;
- Purchasing policies and operations;
- Budgeting for school districts; and
- Audits and internal controls.
The fee for the institute is $750 and includes lodging and some meals. For more
