The
longest-running college jazz series in the United States, the University of
Kentucky Office of African American Student Affairs and Student
Activities Board's Spotlight Jazz Series has brought some of the most renowned jazz
musicians in the world to Lexington over the its 22 year history. The 1999-2000
schedule features:
Tom Harrell, 8 p.m., Oct. 22, Singletary Center for the Arts. Tickets: $17
general public, $14 UK faculty and staff, $7 UK students.
Anthony Brown's Asian-American Jazz Orchestra, performing Duke Ellington's
"Far East Suite," 8 p.m., Nov. 12, Singletary Center for the Arts. Tickets: $20
general public, $15 UK faculty and staff, $8 UK students.
Kenny Garrett, 8 p.m., Feb. 13, Singletary Center for the Arts.
Tickets: $20 general public, $15 UK faculty and staff, $8 UK students.
Mingus Big Band, 8 p.m., March 4, Singletary Center for the
Arts. Tickets: $20 general public, $15 UK faculty and staff, $8 UK students.
Jimmy Smith, 8 p.m., April 14, Singletary Center for the Arts.
Tickets: $17 general public, $14 UK faculty and staff, $7 UK students.
Season tickets for the 1999-2000 Spotlight Jazz Series are on sale at
the Student Center Ticket Office. Prices for season tickets are $75 for general public,
$60 for UK faculty and staff and $35 for UK students.
