2000 Kentucky Welcome is
designed to help first-year and transfer students get acquainted to UK's campus, while
helping returning students feel at home again.

22, 2000 (Lexington, Ky.) As
students begin to return to Lexington, the University of Kentucky offers the Wildcat
Rally, beginning at 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 22 at the UK practice football field near
Nutter Training Facility. Students,
faculty, staff and fans will gather to cheer the UK football team on as it prepares for
the upcoming season. The UK football players will again be on hand to give autographs. A
UK Spirit Yell competition, including the UK Pep Band, residence hall staff and
orientation groups, will be led by the UK cheerleaders.

events and activities planned as part of the 2000 Kentucky Welcome organized by New
Student Services are:
Tuesday, Aug. 22

a.m.-2 p.m., Student Center patio: The Wildcat Welcome Activities Fair will provide
information about registered student organizations and how to participate.
Wednesday, Aug. 23
