add to any festivity but can create severe fire and
life safety hazard if used improperly.
The following
has been established to help ensure the safety of
the University community:
Combustible
materials shall not be used for decorations.
All decorations
must bear the Underwriter label as being flame retardant.
Tree lights
shall bear the Underwriter Laboratory label for the
intended use.
Decorations
shall be arranged in a manner not to obstruct exits,
emergency lighting, exit signs or corridors.
Do not
use open flame such as candles. Smoking is not permitted
around decorations.
If a fire
strikes, evacuate the building and then call 911.
All decorations
in campus buildings must be removed prior to holiday
vacations.
Exterior
decorations shall not be attached to a house, other
than lights.
