audiences around the globe for the past 16 years.

March
21, 2001 (Lexington, Ky.) The
internationally acclaimed dance-illusionist troupe MOMIX will be performing at the
Lexington Opera House at 8 p.m. March 24. The event is sponsored by the University of
Kentucky Student Activities Board Next Stage Committee. MOMIX
has been thrilling audiences around the globe for the past 16 years, under the direction
of Moses Pendleton, who also launched the troupe Pilobolus. Pilobolus performed for a packed house in
Lexington in February 2000.
On
March 24, MOMIX will perform Orbit, a breathtaking, inspirational piece that
ingeniously incorporates stirring music, stunning illusion and awe-inspiring athletic
feats into a brilliant dance extravaganza. Orbit is a work that is both highly
inventive and beautiful. Pendleton conjures up a surreal world made of light, shadow,
props, humor and the human body.
Based
in Washington, Conn., MOMIX has been featured in several film and television projects, in
addition to their world-wide stage performances, including PBSs Dance in
America series and IMAGINE, one of the first IMAX films.
Tickets
for MOMIX are $17 for the general public, $15 for UK faculty and staff, $10 for UK
students and are available through the UK Student Center Box Office by calling (859)
257-8427 and at other Ticketmaster outlets.
