Chellgren,
chairman of Kentucky's largest corporation and a member
of the UK Board of Trustees, will speak on "Leadership
in the New Economy" at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12,
in Room 148 of the Gatton Business and Economics Building.

Ashland Inc. Chairman and University of Kentucky Trustee
Paul W. Chellgren will deliver the Gatton College
of Business and Economics' inaugural Chellgren Lecture
at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 12, in Room 148 of the Gatton
Business and Economics Building.
The lecture is open to the campus community. His topic
will be "Leadership in the New Economy."
Chellgren
has served as the chairman and CEO of Ashland, the
state's largest corporation, for five years. He joined
the company in 1974 as executive assistant to the
chairman and CEO, and was named senior vice president
and group operating officer of Ashland Oil in 1980
and was elected senior vice president and chief financial
officer in 1988. In January 1992, he was elected president
and chief operating officer and a member of the board
of directors. He has served on the UK Board of Trustees
since 1992.
The
lecture will be preceded by an informal coffee and
continental breakfast in the Gatton Building atrium
at 9 a.m.
In the afternoon, Chellgren will address a class of
MBA students and participate in a question and answer
session with faculty and graduate students.
Chellgren established the Chellgren Lecture Series
endowment earlier this year with a gift to the Gatton
College. The series will bring in chief executive
officers and other business leaders to address national
and state issues confronting corporations and the
business community.
