Wilson, a reporter and bureau chief for The Courier-Journal
for nearly 34 years, received the college's "Friend
of the College" award for "faithful and
b" support of the college.

Retired Louisville Courier-Journal reporter Richard
"Dick" Wilson was among several persons, including
many top students, who were honored today by the University
of Kentucky College of Communications and Information
Studies.
Wilson,
a reporter and bureau chief for The Courier-Journal
for nearly 34 years, received the college's "Friend
of the College" award for "faithful and b" support
of the college.
A 1966
graduate of the UK School of Journalism and Telecommunications,
Wilson covered higher education, including UK, for
many of his years at the Courier. He has also served
as an adjunct professor in the UK journalism school.
Others
honored during an awards dinner and the awards they
received were:
--n Lois
M. Chan, a faculty member in the School of Library
and Information Science, excellence in teaching;
-- Rick
Zimmerman, department of communication, faculty research
award;
-- Julie
H. Berry, School of Journalism and Telecommunications,
outstanding staff award;
-- Kathryn
R. Costello, senior vice president for external affairs
at the Univeristy of Georgia, outstanding alumnus
award. Costello has bachelor's and master's degrees
from UK.
-- Kim
Fender, director/librarian at the Public Library of
Cincinnati and Hamilton County, School of Library
and Information Science outstanding alumna award.
She is the first woman director of the Cincinnati
library that is the oldest public library west of
the Alleghenies.
