Oct.
18, 2001 (Lexington, Ky.) -- The
University of Kentucky Student Activities Board Spotlight
Jazz Committee and the Office of African American
Student Affairs will present 2000 Grammy award winner
Diane Reeves at 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, in Memorial
Hall.
Sometimes
compared to such jazz vocalist as Billie Holiday,
Sarah Vaughan and Ella Fitzgerald, Reeves is known
for electrifying her audiences with her vocal talent.
Reeves
feels her music should have "no boundaries," a quality
that can be seen by the wide-ranging influences -
from Caribbean to contemporary pop - on her musical
choices.
Tickets
for the concert are $17 for UK and Lexington Community
College students and $25 for the general public. Tickets
are on sale at the UK Student Center Ticket Office,
(859) 257-8427, and Ticketmaster outlets.
