Sept.
24, 2001 (Lexington, Ky.) --
University of Kentucky faculty, staff, students and
alumni have left an indelible mark on the world.
They
have been honored by Nobel, Pulitzer, Guggenheim,
Grammy and other prestigious panels. And programs
such as the College of Pharmacy, the Patterson School
of Diplomacy and International Commerce and the Martin
School are repeatably among the nation's best.
UK
researchers have gained world recognition for their
efforts to uncover the mysteries of Alzheimer's disease,
and graduates lead several of America's largest corporations
or have made their mark in their respective fields.
Some
40 banners celebrating the successes of members of
the UK family hang throughout campus proving to the
world that UK is home to some of the best and brightest
higher education has to offer.
The
banners, an idea of UK President Lee T. Todd Jr. and
his wife, Patsy, will be updated regularly to include
the most recent university advancements.
"Not
many people know UK has six Pulitzer Prize winners
or two Nobel Prize winners," Todd said. "People walking
through campus will be able to see first hand the
great accomplishments of our students and alumni."
