This is another of the periodic media advisories from
the University of Kentucky Office of Public Relations
updating news media and others about UK activities
related to the events of Sept. 11, 2001:
UK
at Indiana Football Game Postponed -- On Wednesday
night, Indiana University announced postponement of
its athletic competitions through the weekend, including
the Kentucky at Indiana football game scheduled for
Saturday, Sept. 15. A make-up date has not been set.
Bake
Sale #1 Is Friday -- In an effort to support the
relief effort in New York, the offices of Student
Services at UK (Undergraduate Admission, Registrar,
Housing and Academic Scholarships) will host a bake
sale at 9 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, in the front plaza
of the Funkhouser Building. Proceeds will be sent
to local contributing agencies.
Bake
Sale #2 to Benefit Attack on America Fund -- The
College of Social Work Student Association will conduct
a bake sale from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17,
at the UK Student Center to benefit the Attack on
America Fund established by Fifth-Third Bank. The
sale will be held in the center lobby at the entrance
to the Food Court.
Baritone
Master Class Rescheduled -- A music master class
to be taught by well-known baritone singer Sherrill
Mines has been rescheduled from Saturday, Sept. 15,
until 12:30 - 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 23, in Memorial
Hall.
Rose
Bowl Canceled -- The Rose Bowl, a gathering for
students, faculty and staff in front of the William
T. Young Library scheduled for 4 to 6 p.m. Friday,
Sept. 14, has been canceled for this week. The bowl
parties, sponsored by Student Affairs and the UK Office
of the Provost, are new events aimed at increasing
campus community activities.
WRFL
to Show Support for Victims of Terrorist Attacks
-- WRFL-FM, the University of Kentucky's student-run
radio station, will hold a gathering on the Student
Center lawn near the free-speech area from noon until
1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 14, to show support for the victims
of the terrorist attacks. A live band will perform.
