2, 2002 (Lexington, Ky.) -- The
University of Kentucky will commemorate Earth Day
2002 with special activities April 22.
From 11
a.m. to 3 p.m., UK Residence Life will sponsor activities
in the Free Speech Area outside the UK Student Center.
The activities will include henna painting, tie dying
and musical entertainment. Green Thumb will provide
pots, dirt and seeds for flower planting, and Wal-Mart
and Kmart again are sponsoring recycling bin giveaways.
Z-103 radio
will broadcast live from the event. Organizations
including Bluegrass Pride, the Fayette County Conservation
District and Third Rock from the Sun Environmental
Consulting will participate through information and
activity booths.
Free food
will be available. The event is free and open to the
public.
