Aug.
12, 2002 (Lexington, Ky.) -- Jason
Priestley, a patient at the University of Kentucky
Hospital, was transferred at approximately 3:40 p.m.
EDT to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Ind.
Priestley
had made previous arrangements in case of an accident
to be transferred to Methodist Hospital and be treated
by Methodist Hospital physicians who have treated
other Indy Racing League drivers such as Davey Hamilton
and Scott Goodyear.
"Priestley's
condition has improved and stabilized to the point
where a transfer can be made safely," said Stephan
Stapczynski, M.D., chair, Department of Emergency
Medicine, University of Kentucky College of Medicine.
Indianapolis
is a more convenient location for him and his family
because his racing team, Kelley Racing, is based in
Indianapolis, he has a support network and plans to
rehabilitate there.
Priestley's
family and friends wish to thank everyone at the University
of Kentucky Hospital for the outstanding treatment
of Priestley and his group.
