The Thoroughbred Chapter of PRSA, the Public Relations
Society of America, has named University of Kentucky
President Lee T. Todd Jr. its 2002 "Communicator of
the Year". Dr. Todd was presented the honor Monday
night at PRSA’s annual Awards dinner at the Hilton
Suites in Lexington.
Adam H.
Edelen, vice president of the Greater Lexington Chamber
of Commerce, nominated the UK President, citing Todd’s
"straightforward and honest communications and his
soaring vision of a better life for Kentuckians."
In noting
that the University president’s job is second only
to the Governor’s in importance in the Commonwealth,
Edelen praised Todd’s communication skills.
"Dr. Todd
has articulated a thoughtful approach that has inspired
trust in the institution he leads and the vision he
proposes," said Edelen.
Todd’s
outstanding performance in navigating the treacherous
waters of both the UK athletic scandals and the state
legislature and his cooperative efforts with the city
of Lexington to bring the UK campus closer to downtown,
were also noted.
Dr. Todd
became the 11th president of the University of Kentucky
on July 1, 2001,
