Kentucky
is No. 1 in the country in terms of lung cancer, both
in incidence and death rates. There is about 50 percent
more lung cancer in the Commonwealth of Kentucky than
the national average.

Ky. (Nov. 5, 2002) -- Kentucky Governor
Paul Patton has signed a proclamation declaring the
month of November as Lung Cancer Awareness Month in
Kentucky.
Kentucky is No. 1 in the country in terms of lung
cancer, both in incidence and death rates. There is
about 50 percent more lung cancer in the Commonwealth
of Kentucky than the national average.
University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center, Bluegrass
ACTION coalition, American Cancer Society, Cancer
Information Service, and Kentucky ACTION sponsored
the event.
