Lexington, Ky. (Oct. 28, 2002) -- Mary Beth Elliott, daughter of John and Cathy Elliott of Paducah, Ky., and Jonathan Cummins, son of Glenn and Nancy Cummins of Lexington, Ky., were crowned the University of Kentucky homecoming queen and king in halftime ceremonies during the UK-University of Georgia homecoming game Saturday.

Elliott is a junior integrated strategic communications major and was sponsored in the homecoming royalty candidacy by Chi Omega Sorority. Cummins is a junior finance major and was sponsored by Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity.

Other finalists for queen and king were:

-- Emily Kinnaird, a senior animal science major, daughter of Tom and Susanne Kinnaird of Lexington, Ky., sponsored by UK Student Development Council.

-- Victoria Russell, a graduate student in the MBA program, daughter of Leon and Brenda Russell of Louisville, Ky., sponsored by MBA Student Association.

-- Taylor Coots, a senior agricultural economics major, son of Robert Coots of Taylorsville, Ky. and Carolyn Coots, Fisherville, Ky., sponsored by Farmhouse fraternity.

-- Christopher White, a graduate student in the physical therapy program , son of Dennis White of Cincinnati, and Wilma Lamb, Loveland, Oh., Sponsored by Alpha Tau Omega fraternity.
