April 28, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- Beginning May 1, University of Kentucky faculty and staff will have the opportunity to get a new photo identification card. The new cards, similar to the UK student ID cards, do not replace the paper ID card provided by Human Resources each year.

“The new card has a magnetic stripe that will enable employees to place money on a Plus Account that can be used at all Campus Cuisine locations and at the William T. Young Library,” UK ID Operations Manager Karen Doyle said. “The new card also can be used to purchase tickets at the Student Center Ticket Office, the Singletary Center for the Arts, and can be used at the bookstores.”

Doyle said that the idea for the new faculty/staff photo ID came at the request of numerous faculty and staff.
