CBS’s Star Search Talent Scouts
Make Stop at UK

Open auditions will be held in the UK Student Center’s Worsham Theatre from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 7.

 

April 3, 2003 (Lexington, Ky.) -- CBS’s hit show, Star Search, is coming to the University of Kentucky. The Star Search Express, a promotional bus carrying the show’s talent scouts, is headed to Lexington as part of its nationwide talent search to find American’s best adult and junior singers, dancers and models.

Open auditions will be held in the UK Student Center’s Worsham Theatre from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, April 7.

Junior and adult singers should come prepared to sing up to 90 seconds of one song a cappella. They also should bring a karaoke/instrumental compact disc of another song and be prepared to sing it as well. Dancers must perform routines of exactly 90 seconds and bring a cut piece of music, including song title and artist, to leave with producers. Models should come wearing minimal makeup and body conscious outfits. They also should bring photos or comp cards to leave with the producers.

Applicants in the adult singer category must be 15 years or older; junior singer applicants must be 8 to 14 years old. Applicants must be solo performers who do not have a recording contract or national network television solo singing appearance. Dancer applicants may consist of individuals or a group of up to five people, ages 8 to 20, who do not have a prime time television appearance as a featured dance/dancer team. Model applicants must be female, ages 16 to 28, with no appearances in nationally distributed print advertisements as models or as featured actor/performers in any of the following: nationally distributed commercial, major motion picture or a national network television program.
